Client:
Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra
Brief:
Expose a younger audience to art- and classical music
Role:
UX Designer, Concept Developer, Illustrator (Internship)
Description:
Octomonk combines classical music, time management and gamification, all in one app – helping students stay focused when they study. The concept behind Octomonk is based on three key insights:
A lot of students report having issues with concentration when studying. Reasons commonly brought up are distractions, especially mobile devices, as well as lack of energy and motivation.
An overwhelming majority of students listen to music during their studies, claiming it helps them focus.
Studies show that music may indeed help the process of learning; art– and classical music being one of the most suitable genres.
As one of the interns at Stendahls, I took part in developing the original concept. Additionally, it was my task to visualize the app – from sketches and wireframes to animations, interactive mockups and delivery of source material to the developers at Stendahls.
Follow-up:
Since this project was the last one we did before the internship ended, we were never part of the finalization of the app. Gladly, both Stendahls and GSO liked the concept, and took over the development. Octomonk was then released on the App Store in May, 2018.
Down below, you can watch Stendahls’ release video, and see for yourself what the finalized app looks like.
Software used:
Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Sketch, Marvel app
